A new publication in the Polish Heart Journal confirms the clinical benefits of the Carillon Mitral Contour System in treating functional mitral regurgitation (FMR), with results drawn from three prospective studies: TITAN, TITAN II, and REDUCE-FMR. The combined analysis included 113 patients with symptomatic heart failure (NYHA class II–IV) and moderate-to-severe FMR. All patients were treated with the Carillon device, a percutaneous annuloplasty system designed to reduce mitral regurgitation via the coronary sinus.
Key 1-Year Outcomes:
- Mitral Regurgitation Reduction:
- Regurgitant Volume (RV) ↓ 10.5 mL
- Effective Regurgitant Orifice Area (EROA) ↓ 0.06 cm²
- Vena Contracta Width ↓ 0.16 mm
- Reverse Remodeling Indicators:
- LV End-Diastolic Volume (LVEDV) ↓ 15.2 mL
- LV End-Systolic Volume (LVESV) ↓ 13.7 mL
- Ejection Fraction (LVEF) ↑ 1.8%
- Mitral Annular Area ↓ 1.0 cm²
- Functional Improvement:
- NYHA class improved by ≥1 in 68% of patients
- 6-minute walk distance ↑ 51 meters
- KCCQ Quality of Life score ↑ 11.6 points
